I think there is a good reason why C-E dictionaries give "nature" as their definition of 大自然, and not "the environment." 大自然 (nature) is a concept that was understood by pre-scientific minds, thousands of years ago. The concept of "the environment" is relatively modern notion that developed out of a scientific understanding of the world. |
