<< review queue entry 32388 >> I believe 浜 would still be pronounced as bāng in Chinese and not bīn, just because it is used as a variant in Japanese. Besides, if you look it up in a Japanese dictionary (http://jisho.org/kanji/details/%E6%B5%9C), it says it maps to Chinese bāng not bīn. Editor: I don't know, but anyway, I'm not convinced by what you say. It seems more likely to me that the current entries are right. Of *course* jisho.org says "bang1" -- and we have that entry 浜 [bang1] /stream/creek/ But if you ask a Chinese person how to say the name of that city, would they say, "Well, it depends on whether it is written the Japanese way or the Chinese way"? Or would they just say "Héngbīn"? |
