Does it just mean "concurrent job"? ...
Anyway, I don't think 兼职 can mean just "part-time."

[ycandau] 兼职 means concurrent job. You can translate as part-time job, but it means that you have some other main
occupation. You can't use it if you work part-time and nothing else.
