Bian1 zhi1 also means "to build" as in the sentence taken from 周杰倫 song 黑色毛衣; “还能不能重新编织脑海中起毛球的记忆?“ This sentence could be translated as "Are we still able to rebuild the torrent of memories in my mind?"
Editor: or it could be translated many other ways, as far from the original as this one.
From your line of reasoning, one should conclude that 毛球 means "torrent" :-)
Admittedly, 編織 in this sentence is used in a figurative sense; just as "weave" can be in English
