<< review queue entry 31379 >> "一" is pronounced in the first tone (yī) when it refers to "1", the number. However, during all other circumstances it varies between the second and fourth tone depending on the following tone. When followed by a second or third tone, it should be pronounced with the fourth tone, and followed by a fourth tone, it should be pronounced with the second.
