<< review queue entry 31041 >> 兆 is *absolutely* equal to 1 trillion; the other entries of millions, billions, etc. are extremely misleading and should be better distinguished as some kind of vague ancient indicator. Moreover, "trillion" (the actual, 100% correct modern definition of 兆) wasn't even listed! Editor: 1) I don't see the logic of your diff -- keep trillion and mega? and where is the def of "trillion" 2) as you are doubtlessly aware, the "100% correct" definition of trillion is twofold: 10^12 (one thousand billions, a tera) or 10^18 (one billion billions, a exa) (I am using the English billion here). None of them is a mega, none of them is a million millions. 3) the modern use of the word in PRC is one mega, a million, 10^6. The modern use in Taiwan is one tera, a million millions, 10^12, a trillion in English. 4) the old usage, according to Kangxi, is one thousand millions: 韻會:十萬爲億,十億爲兆。A billion in English. |
