It can't be right to give 殸 as a variant of 磬 when it certainly came first. Wieger
also gives the meaning 'to strike', although he also says that it is now written 磬.
Editor : yes it can be right. If we followed your line we would say that all modern characters are variants of archaic characters: 腰variant of 要?
The modern, usual char is in the dict as the main entry. The archaic char is given as a variant.
