我在网上搜索以后就发现“发怔”的怔好像是第四声的。 可能这个词有两个发音,可是好像第四声的是更常用的。英语、汉语、和韩国语的网站都说发音是"fa1 zheng4"

Editor: slightly more complicated. Web sites are no proof of anything. In fact the last one is a copy of nciku. And zdic (which is a just a copy of several paper dictionaries) contradicts itself nicely on the subject.
And if you check closely nciku, the entry says zheng4 but the examples say zheng1.
Morever, Taiwan sources say either zheng4 or leng4.
In short, zheng is ok for everyone, zheng4 (or leng4) is mainly considered a dialect pron.
Diff:
# - 發怔 发怔 [fa1 zheng1] /baffled/nonplussed/
# + 發怔 发怔 [fa1 zheng4] /baffled/nonplussed/
