It doesn't have to be the complete character that way. Sure it has less google hits, but I think it's mainly because it's a habit to say 字旁 for everything, regardless of the real name. At least that's how I perceived it from my small experience. I also wonder why 厂 was removed from the def, I suggest adding it after "cliff" (if I didn't know what we were talking about, I think I wouldn't understand that def without the actual radical in the def) Editor: 2010-07-11 23:01:03 [ycandau] 厂 was not originally at this position but I think it's good to add it -- as I said, it's called 偏廠旁 in fanti but 厂字旁 in jianti, two irreconcilable traditions -- but we can't deny that 厂字旁 exists ... |
