If ever you own a copy of 老舍《四十同堂》, it's in chapter 60, a little bit before the half, the paragraph starts with the professional experience of Mr Li. The sentence is : 换上衣服，他想，便把尸首暂停在城外的 三仙观里，等祁家的人来办理入殓开皌。where, in my French edition, 入殓开皌 is translated as "put the body in the coffin (procéder à la mise en bière) and receive condolences (et recevoir les condoléances)". I haven't found it in any dictionary, and google has only 134 hits. After the time it took me to research, I thought I might as well propose it, in case you find it relevant. The character 皌 itself means 浅白色. (and is not in cedict either) |
