Editor: In examples I found, it was not really about "disintegrating" so much as "no longer flourishing".
e.g. ... 一度倍受青睐的电视新闻评论节目却日渐式微。
The Taiwanese pronunciation wei2 is documented in the definition of 微|微[wei1].
