The existing translation seems far too negative, based upon the conversation I just had with a Chinese native.
Editor: well, it *is* pretty negative, "unspoiled" seems a bit far, but thanks to Richard, I includ a first, "neutral" def.
However, the point that really deserved attention was that this doesn't mean "barren" at all, that is a mistake propagated by dicts, while the word implies "luxuriant (but wild) vegetation"
