chengyu. I cant phrase this translation very well. It comes from 吕氏春秋: “全则必缺,极则必反。”
It seems widely used according to google, it's also the chinese title of an american action movie.
Editor: It's a very familiar saying (in various forms, in English) to those of us who got into macrobiotics, many years ago. ;-)
