Don't need "an". Also, don't need the explanation of "acupoint" (which is not in Webster's) if we just have "acupuncture point". These points are used for non-needle therapies like moxibustion and shiatsu etc, but removing the "-puncture" from "acu-" doesn't really make "acupoint" apply more generally, because "acu" comes from Latin "acus" (needle). And Encarta, for example, defines "acupoint" as simply "Same as acupuncture point [Late 20th century. Contraction of acupuncture point]." |
