May need to double check against: 有效 yǒu xiào (Oxford University Press dictionary) vs http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#en|zh-CN|validate%0A I think it's a good idea to include words that are further from the etymological meaning, like "validate" or authenticate". However, "validate" for instance has several meanings; 有效 would refer to "valid, having effect" whereas 驗證 means "to check the validity" |
