It's misleading to call this the Chinese version of any Western creature. It has its own distinct characteristics. Kirin is an analogous Japanese creature. Kyrin is alleged by Wikipedia (and therefore everyone else), but I don't see that spelling used to name this animal. Kylin, however, is common, used for example as a Chinese Linux distribution and as an IPTV product. << review queue entry 24609 >> It's closer to a Gryphon - a mix of animals - than a unicorn. |
