One of the reasons I think so is this: There are far more Google results for the English wording than the Chinese wording. "经验是智慧之母" - 51,500 results "experience is the mother of wisdom" - 834,000 results 2) In any case, 经验是智慧之母 is perfectly comprehensible if you simply look up its constituent words. You don't need to have the whole expression in a dictionary. 3) "experience is the mother of wisdom" can be translated into Chinese as 不经一事，不长一智, which is a proverb that appears to be Chinese in origin, and which we already have in the dictionary. |
