Editor: The following Tang-period source is quoted in a footnote in the Wikipedia article on 風箏:
https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E9%A3%8E%E7%AD%9D#cite_note-7

In addition, the following Ming-dynasty source is cited in 汉语大词典:

Both sources explicitly link the name 風箏 to the sound produced by whistle-like attachments.

If there is a specific objection to this etymology or to the inclusion of etymology notes in CC-CEDICT entries generally, it would be helpful to state it. A bare "no" does not provide a basis for evaluating or justifying deletion.
Diff:
- 風箏 风筝 [[feng1zheng5]] /kite (Etymology: Kites with bamboo whistles attached produced musical sounds when flown.)/

"wind zither", traditionally explained as being named after kites fitted with bamboo whistles that produced musical sounds when flown)/
