<< review queue entry 85006 >> no ----------------- Editor: The following Tang-period source is quoted in a footnote in the Wikipedia article on 風箏: (唐)高承《事物紀原》:「紙鳶其制不一,上可懸燈,又以竹為弦,吹之有聲如箏,故又曰風箏」 https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E9%A3%8E%E7%AD%9D#cite_note-7 In addition, the following Ming-dynasty source is cited in 汉语大词典: 明·陈沂《询𫇴录》:「风筝,即纸鸢,又名风鸢。初五代汉李业于宫中作纸鸢,引线乘风为戏。后于鸢首以竹为笛,使风入作声如筝,俗呼风筝。」 Both sources explicitly link the name 風箏 to the sound produced by whistle-like attachments. If there is a specific objection to this etymology or to the inclusion of etymology notes in CC-CEDICT entries generally, it would be helpful to state it. A bare "no" does not provide a basis for evaluating or justifying deletion. |
