<< review queue entry 82694 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> I'm the one who proposed these definitions, but I think the 3rd sense should have been written as just "variant of 加註|加注[jia1zhu4]". A format like /to add a note; to annotate (variant of 加註|加注[jia1zhu4])/ is, in my mind, intended for when only *part* of the definition of the referenced word – in this case, 加註 – applies. This format would be used if 加註 had other senses, apart from "to add a note; to annotate". In this case, however, the entire definition ("to add a note; to annotate") applies, and can be substituted in as the 3rd sense in the definition of 加注. * * * The general idea is that "variant of X" in a definition can be replaced with the definition of X, UNLESS "variant of X" is placed inside parentheses: (variant of X), in which case there is no substitution. |
