I think you're right, and while kbaiko isn't entirely convinced that "calipash" is wrong, he agrees it's "safer to remove it". I would say that, even if "calipash" can be used to refer to 鳖裙, it's confusing to put it in the definition of 鳖裙 because anyone who knows the definition of "calipash" given in Merriam-Webster* or any of various other dictionaries that give a similar definition (or anyone who looks up "calipash" in those sources), is going to be confused by our definition because it will seem self-contradictory. In other words, I would argue that not only is it "safer" to omit "calipash" (on the grounds that it might be incorrect), omitting it makes for a clearer, unambiguous definition (regardless of whether it's correct or not). * Merriam-Webster: "the fatty gelatinous dull-greenish substance found under the upper shell of a turtle and esteemed as a delicacy" |
