>这几家的堂屋相对于一个队里别的人家堂屋,空间要闶阆些
Seems to be used as an adjective here, "the space is larger/broader"

---

阆中
- First of all Lanzhong -> Langzhong
- Second, according to https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E9%98%86%E4%B8%AD%E5%B8%82/1182456 if you watch the videos on the page the narrators pronounce it "lang4" not "lang2". And one of the narrators is the mayor of the city.

---

As for 阆 (lang4), I don't think anyone uses "lofty/high gate/empty moat" nowadays... all my physical dictionaries say something along the lines of "用于地名。【阆中】 地名,在四川省 【阆苑】传说中的神仙住处" But I'll let the editors decide to keep it or not.
