Too wordy. We don't have to explain what a radical is — it's in English dictionaries.
e.g.
radical - any of the basic set of approximately 214 Chinese characters constituting semantically or functionally significant elements in the composition of other characters and used as a means of classifying characters in dictionaries [Oxford]
Diff:
- 部首 部首 [bu4 shou3] /the key or radical by which a character is arranged in a traditional Chinese dictionary/
+ 部首 部首 [bu4 shou3] /radical of a Chinese character/
