Most dict's say the "for the most part" is pronounced [da4 du1], including MoE &
nciku, with some of them giving [da4 dou1] as an alternative pr.

Is the adjective "general" correct? Or is it a mistake, perhaps copied from dict.cn?
Most defs say 大都 is an adverb.

Editor: well, I seem to hear da4 dou1 more, but we'll follow standard.
Diff:
- 大都 大都 [da4 dou1] /general/for the most part/on the whole/
+ 大都 大都 [da4 dou1] /for the most part/on the whole/also pr. [da4 du1]/

- 大都 大都 [da4 du1] /metropolitan/
+ 大都 大都 [da4 du1] /for the most part/on the whole/metropolitan/
