Editor: Rich pointed that ABC says "metals" (uncountable). But it does in fact mean "a metal", and
種 is its correct measure word, as for all words that indicate a classification.
Examples:
金、銀、銅、鐵、和錫......五金店所賣的不僅限於這五種金屬 not restricted to these five metals
not "these five kinds of metal"

金是一種廣受歡迎的貴金屬 Gold is a precious metal
not "gold is a sort of precious metal"

现在将1G的这种金属熔进10G密度10倍于它的另一种金属 ... this metal ... another metal.
not "...this kind of metal... another kind of metal"
