Comment: 萌芽 is a verb-object compound, so 萌 should be the verb form of sprout/bud

<< review queue entry 38497 - submitted by 'chad' >>
I took a stab at a decent format without being too wordy. Feel free to improve it.

The "people" meaning may from an old association with 氓. Sprout and bud meanings are as a bound form, but we don't make the distinction. The moe meaning is as a distinct one-character word, and is in common use.

References for moé:

3) Moe (slang) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_%28slang%29]
Diff:
- 萌 萌 [meng2] /people/sprout/
+ 萌 萌 [meng2] /to sprout/to bud/to have a strong affection for (slang)/adorable/loanword from Japanese 萌え moe, slang describing affection for a cute character/

Fixing references with no target

Editor: Long time no see, Chad :-)
Is a batch like this going to be our annual Christmas present from you from now on? ;-)
I couldn't find any mistakes in this big batch.
It was quite demanding examining it -- some of the differences were physically tiny.
It was very handy to have my Zhongwen Chrome extension to save me doing manual lookups.
Sometimes we alter an entry's pinyin without checking whether another entry references it.
Sometimes we don't have *time* to do that.
Anyway -- thx, Chad.

The referral to Chang2 e2 fails because the actual entry is Chang2 E2. I think the current capitalization of Chang E is incorrect, because, if so, the apostrophe in the ubiquitous Romanization "Chang'e" wouldn't be necessary. Wp and ABC also back this up. I also proposed some minor changes to the definition.

Another editor pointed out that loli and shota actually tend to refer to individuals, not a genre. Also, it was requested to add more detail in the definitions. This is my attempt at trying to keep them short and not pasting from wikipedia.

Note I am calling one a loanword and the other a loan translation (i.e., calque), as lolicon is strictly a phonetic borrowing and the other is, well, half grapheme borrowing and half phonetic. I'm still looking for a good term for these kind of words (e.g., 冰淇淋 and 华尔街 as borrowings from English). "Loanblend" or "loan rendering" are sometimes used, but I'm not sold on these terms yet.

乌鸡 and 乌骨鸡 are the most common terms. In Google web and image search, 竹丝鸡 is about 3% of the combined total, and 武山鸡 ~ 0.5%. 丝羽乌 isn't a word by itself, it's really "丝羽乌骨鸡" which is arguably a construct.

In the traditional field, 症 is favored over 癥 based on two observations:
1) we currently already have 116 entries ending in zheng4, with 症|症 instead of 癥|症. There are only 14 with 癥|症, which are the ones represented here for changing.
2) Of those 116 entries, I looked at all the words with at least one other traditional character (so as to exclude identical simplified words) and compared 癥 vs 症. Google hits were generally 10x favoring 症. The only exception was 頑症, in which 頑癥 was more frequent. However, dictionaries are not consistent with this word, as some have only 頑症, and some only 頑癥.

Please note the change from 癥结 to 癥結, as it was an entry that was recently modified. I'm proposing the change based what exists in dictionaries, plus Google hits

Based on Google hits:
* The first one isn't used at all, except by sites that use our dictionary :)
* of the other two, 俠盜獵車手 is the favored term in Taiwan (25:1) and 侠盗飞车 is favored in PRC (6:1)

The term itself is not specific to Vice City. The terms get tacked on for each product, such as 罪恶都市 (Vice City) or 聖安地列斯 (San Andreas)
