<< review queue entry 71299 - submitted by 'cws' >> can infer that it is an abbreviation of unusually, it just look weird that it is abbreviated but it don't have a period. in contrast with *lit.* and *fig.* -------------------------------------------- Editor: > can infer that it is an abbreviation of unusually Yep. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/usu It's an abbreviation commonly used in dictionaries. Dictionaries often use abbreviations without a period, such as "vt" for "transitive verb" (rather than "v.t.") We use "sb" for "somebody" and "etc" for "et cetera". But this is the only entry where we didn't use a period with "usu". There are 42 other entries that have "usu." with a period. |
