"quibble" is in a lot of dictionaries, but when you look at usage of 狡辩, "quibble" doesn't seem right. In almost all of the examples I found (see below) the person who was doing the 狡辩-ing appeared to have done something wrong and was now trying to give a false account in order to avoid being blamed.
