I believe it comes from the following sort of usage: 停棲時雙翅合攏，when at rest [dragonflies] fold [their wings] over their backs This is a special sense of "fold" which is unlikely to occur to the user on reading our definition. There's no bending here: the insect folds one wing over the other. To make it clearer you'd have to say sth like "to fold (one's wings)" "to close" isn't very good either -- it's quite ambiguous.
