1) /(a person's) evil air/aura of wickedness/
看那副表情满脸的邪气!
NA has a similar example sentence translated as "the man was exuding evil all over"

2) "pathogeny" does not mean "cause of disease".
It means "The development of a diseased or morbid condition."
https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=pathogeny
or, as Wiktionary puts it, the "method of development of disease".

Examples for "pathogenic energy" (which seems to me a good way of putting it):

"An Acupuncturist is trained to recognise all the signs of an attack of pathogenic energy and to treat the different consequences of such attacks."
https://www.energiavital.co.uk/cold-external-cause-diseases/
(I'm pretty sure they're talking about 邪气 here.)

"Traditional moxibustion involves burning moxa (usually an herbal stick) on or above acupuncture points. With heat and moxa entering and traveling in the energy channels, it helps unblock energy channels, dispel so-called pathogenic energy and restore balance of yin (cold energy) and yang (hot energy)."
Diff:
- 邪氣 邪气 [xie2 qi4] /evil influence/unhealthy trend/pathogeny (cause of disease) in TCM/as opposed to vital energy 正氣|正气[zheng4 qi4]/
+ 邪氣 邪气 [xie2 qi4] /evil influence/unhealthy trend/(a person's) evil air/aura of wickedness/(TCM) pathogenic energy (opposite: 正氣|正气[zheng4 qi4], vital energy)/
