I think "wrapped up tight" and "bundled up tight" correspond to 包裹得密不透風 (as in the following example) rather than to 密不透風.
i.e. 'wrapping' and 'bundling' aren't part of the meaning of 密不透風.

女性外出仍得戴頭巾,全身包裹得密不透風;
Women wrap their entire bodies in clothing and cover their faces with veils in spite of the sweltering heat.

Other TP examples:

It's like an impenetrable steel net, which can intercept incoming missiles,

The mother spider wraps the eggs tightly in a waterproof egg sac made up of many layers of silk,

In those days, recording studios didn't have air conditioning, and there weren't even electric fans for fear they'd make too much noise. It was tough work recording in those closed-in studios.

because the nurse had no operating-room experience, compounded with poor ventilation in the operating room,

女性外出仍得戴頭巾,全身包裹得密不透風;
Women wrap their entire bodies in clothing and cover their faces with veils in spite of the sweltering heat.

The fourth floor, meanwhile, was an almost completely sealed corrugated steel structure added on at the top that was suffocating in summer and chilling in winter, and, given its depth of 16 meters, it received very little natural light.
