* Several dictionaries say or imply 臂膊 means both arms, but there are many examples where 臂膊 refers to only one arm, including in literature.
* MoE's second sense may be correct for that quotation from 周书, but I didn't find any other usage example.

【Wenlin】
n. arms (of humans)

【Pleco】
NOUN DIALECT arm

【MoE】
1. 两臂。
| 唐.路德延〈小儿〉诗:「臂膊肥如瓠,肌肤软胜绵。」
| 《三国演义.第一九回》:「曹操背后一人攀住臂膊,一人跪于面前。」
2. 引申为得力的助手。
| 《周书.卷二九.耿豪传》:「世言李穆、蔡祐,丞相臂膊;耿豪、王勇,丞相咽项。」

The first to realize that she was there was the short, fat man, Chou Chung-wei. He sprang up with a cry of delight, waved his arms excitedly, and cried:

He paid no attention — he may not have heard — but set down the shafts, took the old woman's arm and gently helped her up. “Are you all right?” he asked. (Yangs)
Taking no notice - or perhaps he didn't even hear me - the man laid down his rickshaw and helped the old woman slowly up, holding her arm as she found her feet. (Lovell)
鲁迅《一件小事》

在电杆旁,和他对面,正向着马路,其时也站定了两个人:一个是淡黄制服的挂刀的面黄肌瘦的巡警,手里牵着绳头,绳的那头就拴在别一个穿蓝布大衫上罩白背心的男人的臂膊上。
At precisely that moment two men come to a stop next to a telephone pole facing Fat Boy and the street behind him. One is a thin, sallow-faced policeman in pale yellow uniform, a saber at his side. In one hand he holds a rope, the other end of which is tied round the arm of a man wearing a long blue cotton gown beneath a sleeveless white vest. (Lyell)
By the telegraph pole opposite, facing the road, two men had halted. One, a scrawny policeman with a sallow face in a yellow uniform, had a sword at his waist. He holding a rope, its other end tied round the arm of a man in a blue cotton gown and white sleeveless jerkin. (Yangs)
By a telegraph pole directly opposite stood two men, facing out on to the road. One was a thin, sallow policeman in a khaki uniform, a sword by his side and one end of a rope in his hand. The other end was attached to the arm of a man in a long, blue cotton gown and a shapeless white waistcoat (Lovell)
