Editor: Your reference says 永在的神耶和華,創造地極的主, and one English translation of Isaiah 40:28 says "The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth."

So I suppose you assumed that 地極 means "the ends of the earth".

The problem is that other English translations say things like
- "The Lord is the everlasting God; he created all the world."
- "The Lord is the eternal God, Creator of the earth."

My guess is that these latter two translations are close to the original meaning of the Bible, and that "the ends of the earth" is just a poetic way of expressing the same idea. The problem is, "the ends of the earth" usually means "the most remote places in the world", as in "He would go to the ends of the earth to please her." That's not quite the sense intended by the Bible.

In addition, I'm not sure that 地极 can be used to mean either of the following in any context other than the Bible.
- the most remote places in the world
- the whole world

You certainly haven't provided any evidence that it can.
