As the 2nd character (圖) suggests, it's about images/pictures/photos.

other entries confirm fen4zi3 = 份子
-----------------------------------

Editor:
You're saying that the simplified form is 份子 rather than 分子, because other entries confirm it.

1) Which entries? We don't have *any* entries where fen4zi3 is written as 份子 for the simplified form. We have plenty where it's written as 分子, though. E.g.
不法分子 不法分子 [bu4 fa3 fen4 zi3] /lawbreakers/offenders/
右派份子 右派分子 [you4 pai4 fen4 zi3] /rightist elements/
etc.

2) As you can see from these two examples, we have entries where the traditional form for fen4zi3 is 分子 in some cases and 份子 in other cases. Both are correct. They are variant forms. Both are commonly used in Taiwan. We have an entry that documents the variant relationship of 分 and 份:
份 份 [fen4] /.../variant of 分[fen4]/

3) Google results (with the 'verbatim' setting) for the simplified form:
"知识分子" - 16.3 million
"知识份子" - 1.3 million

4) PRC dictionaries give 分子 as the way to write fen4zi3 (member of a class or group).

Conclusion: 分子 is the standard way to write fen4zi3 in simplified form, based on what PRC dictionaries indicate and also actual usage. (And it's also correct for the traditional form.)

transparent; noun, not adjective
------------------------------

Editor:
1) Because it's transparently a noun, it seems to me reasonable to leave it to users to understand that it's the noun sense of "elastic" that's intended ("material in the form of a band, made elastic with strips of rubber"). But perhaps adding "(a length of)" makes it clearer.

2) "elastic cord" usually has a round cross-section.
鬆緊帶 is usually flat rather than round.
Diff:

"four-eyes" does not do justice to the phrase's meaning, which is also made explicit in the MOE quote in the original submission.
------------------------------------

Editor: I have no problem with adding a note for clarification, given that "four-eyes" isn't included in some English dictionaries. Also, "four-eyes" can refer to the "four-eyed fish" (a fish of the genus Anableps), and 四眼+田鸡 sounds somewhat like that.

ABC also shows "marked price" but I see no relation to prices. Unfortunately no entry in MOE. My corpus indicates the meanings I'm submitting, and this seems to be confirmed by a quick image search too.

Editor: Good find! Thanks! It got into cedict prior to 2007, and was probably copied from ABC.

Some examples:

I'm submitting these tentatively as a small sample. I've come across a few dozen entries where I have doubts they belong in the dictionary as headwords. I consider these fully transparent/compositional, not real lexical items.

Background: I'm going over a new batch of entries for CHDICT, and these are among those that I rejected. I can see reasonable arguments both pro and contra to have headwords like this in a dictionary, and I'm not sure what the stance of the CC-CEDICT editors is. So please let met know if I should submit such items for removal, or if it's a waste of your attention because they are intentionally there.
-------------------------

Editor: While they aren't really necessary, we don't mind keeping the last two.
ABC and Grand Ricci both have 抬起.
Feel free to submit a few more of the ones you've been looking at to get a feel for what we want to keep/delete.

For example, we might have "a strength" as a gloss so it's clear we don't mean uncountable noun "strength".
